Isn't your title wrong? 2018 vs 2019?

It will be interesting to see what they do with that gap that used to be the mirror for the EF mount... 3x the flange difference over the other mainstream mirrorless. That is about 1" of "gap" to deal with. For Canon to capture some of the mirrorless back, I think they are going to have to make due with EF (and EFS) mounts on a mirrorless somehow. That is the only way I will buy a Canon mirrorless. I am not about to go buy EFM lenses, and then use adapters for EF or EFS.

It is only about a year way, about the same timeframe we discuss other rumors. :D

In fact, due to the 6D2 limelight, we are already talking about a 6DIII it seems!

It'll be an uphill battle with systems like Fuji X which will be very mature by Q4 2019, with possibly a new release and even more lenses.

Honestly, I don't I would want to keep using my L lenses with a mirrorless Canon... the whole point for me would be to go for a much more compact set up.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

The article says Q4 2018, the title is incorrect, but still the points are valid. :)

By predicting 2 years plus 1 qtr. out for something to occur in the Subject, is this the 'reverse logic' in hopes it comes out SOONER,

as opposed to the 6D MkII which was predicted to come out sooner, but took over 1 year later?!

Who knows about rumors. The latest kerfuffle I've found entertaining has been the Nikon D850 rumors. So many you tube channels acting authoritative that it would be the first DSLR with a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder. Now closer to release there's confirmation that it will be a traditional VF and suddenly Nikon's anniversary camera is DOA by the fans (even though I think it might have some interesting 4K video features if implemented correctly).

With a Canon FF mirror less, I'm not sure if it's just flange distance that's a factor. I have heard that DSRL lenses are inherently slower on mirrorless because of different technologies. Maybe this is negated if the AF is DPAF. Considering how large the lenses can be on the Sony A7/A9 options, I wouldn't mind a protruding mount that accepts EF lenses.

Might as well start the latest rumor...the ocular implants with tapping the optic nerve to gather the signal will permit 'super DR...just like your eyes', and will on the market in 25 years.
