Just picked up a copy in real nice shape and used it a bit for some shots at some of my girls' softball and lacrosse games. Nice and sharp and wonderful color rendition. I've found I like a bit more reach from the sidelines, though so I'm usually shooting with my 100-400. It's still pretty new so I'll be sure to give it a more thorough workout.

Couldn't resist the deal so I caved. The lens is in prestine condition and yes, I triple checked the AF/MF switch. lol

I'm your new member. Can't wait to test it out tomorrow!

Normally my mid-range tele zoom for softball is my 70-200 f/4, but I figured I'd bring out the Magic Drainpipe for last weekend's tournament.
Performed very well IMO.

Wow, no one else is using this lens anymore? Sixteen months since my last post here. Oh well, I'll keep it alive!
From my daughter's high school softball game last night.

I found one of these for sale in my local camera shop yesterday. Needless to say it isn't there anymore... because it now lives with me. I just need to get out and use it now.

I had an opportunity to use the Magic Drainpipe yesterday... it was a hugely overcast day, so not the best light but this lens seems very good.

Hello - I need and would like to ask here.
Anyone ordered 80-200/2.8 via ebay - shipped from Japan? Any experience? There is plenty of lenses shipped from Japan and I am curious because...
... I love the price
... I like it is still an L lens
... It is a different color than new L lenses(dark one is amazing)

I am afraid that the one I will order from Japan - and it will be shipped to Europe - will not be sharp with my 5D Classic. I am a huge fan of this lens. Does not matter it is 80, not 70mm. It is still a 2.8 lens! L lens! With great overall results.

I ordered 2 times from Japan- ebay. The Japanese are very responsible people! the first time was a lens in good quality, the second time I was looking close to ideal (well, as ideal ... you have to understand that the lens is at least 25 years old))) choose sellers with the highest rating ... and wait ... sometimes there are practically no lenses ... and sometimes "time capsules" appear)) I like the 80-200 lens more than modern 70-200

On canon 5dm2, 6d, 7d the lens works great.

I have to say - so beautiful - dimmed light, bokeh - just wow!!!! I love this!

I am a fan of old tech - I myself use 5Dc and 50STM - amazing results coming from it.
