Nice, the one time I was able to shoot there the wind was up, from that position all you could see was steam. I did shoot it from the hill on the other side on another day. Amazing place.

Thanks John. I was pretty lucky with the weather this trip.

We flew out on Monday the 17th and the overlook opened on the 18th. Needless to say I was a little disappointed.

Well Done... After all these years, that little G12 still does quite well. I still use mine for macro from time to time. I have a collection of add on lenses I use that way. Odd to say, but I've gotten better shots of orchids with my G12 with a Leica add-on lens than I have with my very fine 100 f/2.8L IS macro.

LOL, now I am 90, the G12 is all that I can carry! You're right, it's an excellent camera for macro but resolution at infinity is crap.

BTW, both images are derived from hand-held bracketed sets tonemapped with SNS-HDR (ideal for the natural look)

Many thanks for your kind comments.

Thank for your encouragement. I was lucky; just an instance of being in the right place at the right time :-)

Thanks. Taking photos is one of the things that gets me out and about a bit. It's good for maiming mobility - and sanity!

More than that..... I know people in their late 60's that don't know how to use a computer......they refuse to learn.
A person gets old only when they stop learning new things. That's a choice, as far as I can tell.
