It's funny how everyone reacts differently. Myself personally I don't have any interest in an a7rIII or a9R. I found the 42mp to be too much to deal with and if rumors are right, a 60-80MP sensor will be even more demanding on lenses, shooting discipline, and if I remember reading correctly, diffraction will be an issue earlier. I couldn't see needing to buy GM level glass for everything.

It comes down to what you shoot really. I agree about the MP. I definitely do not want to deal with 60 or 80MP. 42MP is a good sweetspot for me, since most of my shooting is landscape. I'd prefer if the A7Rii had better tracking/AF for things in motion, but it's not a deal breaker. Which is exactly why the A9 has no interest for me, specially at that pricetag.

I also do not own a single GM lens, so I'm with you there. I prefer the lightweight set of primes over carrying big like a GM 24-70 or 70-200.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Since I had my 3-way lighting already set up, I thought I'd take a photograph of a hand painted vase I inherited from my great aunt who passed away in 1968 at the age of 92. I believe the vase is from Japan but don't know the actual age of it.

The sunset was spectacular the day before last. Of course, I was nowhere near a camera at the time.
I went down to the beach last night, hoping for more of the same, only to be treated to clear skies.

Decided to play around with the aqua in the waves instead.

Great job on the sig...really like this one a lot.

The vase really needs at least some shadow (casting some shade on the surface it's sitting on) to ground it or it's just floating in space, which isn't particularly interesting.

Great color...this is why I like the Batis lenses so much (Loxias as well).

of course the sunsets were amazing the days I was too lazy to shoot. I nearly went out last night, but the skies were a let down like they are today. Hoping I can go out saturday, been wanting to shoot a plane silhoutte on moon backdrop for the longest time, either today or tomorrow will have best conditions.

Thanks for the comments David. There is a small shadow at the bottom rim of the vase but I'll have to think of a better background to use next time so I can add more shadows. For this shot, I didn't want to distract from the painting of the vase itself so decided on the white background and no shadows.

Heading out in the morning for a 7 day campervan trip. Praying for some nice weather to allow me to get some landscape photography done. Here's hoping

Good for you and the family! Enjoy the camper life Eddie!
We're 25 days from a 25 day trip, still ironing out but only little things now.
Get a couple of pics with the landscapes and your camper. I'd very much like to see.

The grass is always greener, my friend. Thank you for the kind words! The Mino 200 2.8 just keeps on delivering through that old-school 2xTC like crazy.

The work you put out with the a9 and a99ii is exceptional, so if they are even close to equal I have to think the a9 still wins for you due to weight savings. Right?

Speaking of weight, that a99ii/135 ZA combo is truly a brick--but I dig it all the same.
