What is your workflow? I use LR Mobile all the time. Then I go back to my laptop to export them to jpegs.

I'm wondering what LR does when it sync's smart previews and you try to export those. I know when I try to zoom in on a smart preview, the detail isn't there. But if I use the SD card reader and import the files to my iPad, the RAW files are there and it says "Original", I can zoom in till my heart's content and it stays sharp.

I've been testing the waters of eliminating my laptop from my workflow, but I can't seem to quite get there. Getting closer and closer though.

Ive been using just my iPad pro with LRM more and more. Its also caused me to make the SD card my main card, as its easie rot get the files on to my ipad.

Ive almost eliminated my desktop LR but there are still reasons to use it. The lack of using Camera profiles is the biggest issue i still have. Adobe Camera profile is ok sometimes but i find the images lack a bit of punch.
There are also export issues. If you chose to export at the largest size you will always end up with the same dimensions, even if you have cropped in heavily. This results in a softer image than you would expect. Its a shame these two issues are there, as LRM has come on in leaps and bounds recently (unless you use speed rating a lot).

From my reading today the problem is this. If you load the pictures directly to your ipad, you have the full res RAW “Original” on your iPad. As soon as you launch Lightroom on your computer, it pulls the RAW file from all other devices and replaces it with the Smart Preview for speed and efficiency. That’s all fine and good, but the user doesn’t realize they’ve just made the computer the only place they can do the final export to jpeg. I plan to do some testing on what happens if you import, edit and export without ever launching Lightroom on your computer.

Yep, but nearly every beautiful summit has a boot-swallowing midge-infested bog at the bottom of it :)

Which is motivation to get to the top and get a great photo, or only go out when it's windy :)

Downloaded it yesterday. Haven't had a chance to put it through it's paces. But I can say this, I was hoping that I could have put the histogram up and leave it up while making edits, but that doesn't appear possible. Again, I just downloaded it to my ipad pro 12.9 so time will tell.

Thus far, I've used Photogene⁴, Pixelmator and the photos apps. Still use Photogene⁴ mostly. I have high hopes that Affinity will change that.

It's hard to describe in words, but coming from the 7D2 it is noticeably louder. The live view is quieter as expected.
