I've had my 5d3 for 3.5 years (only camera) and have less than 6,000 clicks ...... not doing enough shooting it seems.

Wow.

If you looked at each photo for 2 seconds then it would take a good half an hour to see them all. Impressive quantity but how's the quality in your opinion?

I don't know how to calculate how many individual images there are as many are just still raw format but many are fully processed so they have a raw image, sidecar file, large jpeg, small jpeg. Some are macro stacks of 5 ~15 images for each jpeg image. There are 6 weddings in there and I tend to take more images at a wedding than at other times. If I were to try and estimate how many true unique images there were it's probably 1/2 of that or less.

As to quality, after all the culling it's maybe 20% of those get processed and popped up on Flickr and of all those, there are maybe a few dozen I am really happy with.

The scanned ones are different. I have been restoring old family photos many inherited from deceased family members. I have been digitizing them for some time now and cleaning up some of the better or more meaningful ones. The example below is of a relatively clean negative and the final image.

That was an Epson V500 but since that time I have switched over to using a 5DII and a home brew negative holder. Just load up a slide or negative, point it at the sun and click away.

Jay,

Do you have a Staples or Office Depot store near you? Perhaps they would have the screen ink you need, depending on what manufacturer and model monitor you have. Have you tried Amazon or the last resort tried Googling screen ink for your monitor?

I saw a Youtube video where you can make your own monitor/phone ink. Piece o' cake. The big ink companies have tried to keep this off the internet! They've been successful until now!

"Five parts water.

One part each of red, blue, and green food coloring.

One part distilled white vinegar.

Mix.

Add one teasoon salt per 1/2 cup of the above. Mix until disolved.

For PC/Mac monitors, pour 1/2 - 1 cup into the top air vents (aka ink recepticals).

For phones and tablets, soak the device in enough ink mixture to cover it completely.

The electronics in your device will automatically separate the colors.

This works!"

(Moose is not responsible for the above information, he is merely passing it along as a possible solution and as a public service, because Moose cares)

Helpful info Moose, worked for me.

Am using my wife's iPad for now as the screen ink on mine is like a watercolour and all the words are smudged and running into each other. Any idea when this will get better?
