I went to the GOMA (Gallery Of Modern Art) in Brisbane to have a look at the largest Marvel exhibition ever presented. The exhibition runs from 27 May 2017 – 3 Sep 2017 and is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily.

It seemed that every school in Brisbane also sent their students to visit the exhibition on the same day I visited.

All the shots were taken with a Canon 5D Mk III at ISO 3200, F2.8 with shutter speeds in the range 1/25 to 1/125 so IS was very useful on the Tamron 24-70mm and Canon 70-200mm F2.8 zooms.

I waited patiently until each exhibit momentarily cleared as groups moved on, squeezing off a few shots in that fleeting interval, ending up with 1 or 2 worth processing (no people, minimal camera shake).

Well worth a visit if you live in SE Qld. Arrive at 10:00am and rush around in the 1st 15 mins if you want to maximise the opportunities for getting clean shots with no people.

Cheers

Dennis

PS – no flash, tripods or monopods allowed and bags which exceed 40cm (L) x 15cm (W) x 35cm (H) are not allowed.

Thanks - I sprinted around the exhibition rooms as soon as I arrived to keep ahead of the crowds for these wider scenes and only had to wait for one or two sets of folks to move away before getting the shot. 15 minutes later it was bedlam!

Cheers

Dennis

Nicely done!! Must have been really dark in there to shoot at 3200 at an exhibition? Results are great tho!!

Thanks, it was dark in some of the exhibit rooms. I reckon EV4 to EV5 would describe the light levels. Here's a couple of the darker shots, taken at 1/5 sec and 1/15 sec - IS played a big part in keeping these reasonably sharp.:-)

Had to choose my position carefully to maximise non-existent depth of focus, as well as dodge the hordes of iPhone selfie snappers.

Cheers

Dennis

Hah - I see that you also had to deal with an exceptionally low light environment when you grabbed those "monster" shots at "Terror Universal @ The Metro, August ’17" - nice work & B&W conversions.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

Hehehe! The trouble was both this band and the headlining band had very similar stage lighting so I really wanted one set to look very different to the next :) (that's how I justified it to myself anyway! lol)
