Well here in Idaho there are only a few roads that head north into the path of totality. The traffic on those roads will be horrendous in a few hours.

It's definitely getting weird out! I'd say the sun in 2/3 covered now. It's like hanging out in a world that is 1.5 stops underexposed ;-)a

edit: It got pretty dark! Was really weird to see shadows where you would never see shadows. Look forward to seeing some pics and vids over the next few days.

the experience must have been incredible!

Nothing really worthwhile from cali, but I enjoyed it with my kids, they were just checking out the funny shadows

Peak eclipse as seen from Texas. No solar filter but used a 10 stop ND to cut the intensity of the sun. I was getting this weird flare...probably from the filter....shifted the frame a bit to have it fill the eclipsed part of the sun.

It was raining cats and dogs here in West Point, GA at peak eclipse. Can't say I'm disappointed...just never cared enough about the event (or we would have planned a 4-hour trip to extreme NW GA to see it. Love the pictures so far though.

Eddie, I am. Love the way it renders. Where did you get you CV 15? Do you also have the CV12?

My CV 12mm will be here Wed.

The Batis 25mm will have to be sold in order for me to get the CV 15mm. O I'll need to decide which lens I prefer to have. in the meantime the Batis 25mm + FE 55mm will be my street shooting combo (Or Batis 25 + 85).

I have the same notion regarding the FE 100-400mm GM. If I decide I really want that lens, it will have to be at the expense (sale) of my Batis 85 and 135mm.

Tough decisions, so going to take my time about it.

David, did you get your CV12 used or new? Good plan on your other lenses. Buy when there is a need. For example, it's apparent I need a 35mm so I'm on the lookout for one. I would have to sell the Batis 18 for it unfortunately.

I went ahead and bought a new one.

Per B&H specs the CV 12mm weighs just .6 lbs. while the e-mount Laowa 12mm is 1.3 lbs.

Thought seriously about the superb 12-24mm...the range is fantastic, it's at least as sharp as the CV 12mm, and I love the smallness of it for such a uwa zoom. But, it came down to me just loving/preferring the Loxia-like way the CV ultrawides render. Microcontrast and sunstars are superb.

Nice!

We had solid cloud cover this morning. I drove over to the CIA in St. Helena and managed a few shots of our 77% eclipse through breaks in the clouds . I used the 5DsR so I won't post them here.

i believe every lens have different way to focus on infinity at different apertures. are we going to find them out through trial and error? or there's a good explanation to this. Like the CV15 III at F5.6 hard stop and everything are in focus. How about the FE16-35F4 for example. is it also a hardstop at F5.6 or F8 for example? I kinda want that lens back for my landscape/architectural/RE/Receptions/environmental portrait. I like how the zoom starts at 35mm.

i'm not sure if i make sense or it's a damn question. lol
