Love this lens and how you can just take a SOOC image and the color rendering etc is just spot on. No editing at all.

I visited the GOMA (Gallery Of Modern Art) in Brisbane to have a look at the largest Marvel exhibition ever presented. The exhibition runs from 27 May 2017 – 3 Sep 2017 and is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily.

It seemed that every school in Brisbane also sent their students to visit the exhibition on the same day I visited.

No flash, tripods or monopods were allowed, so with shutter speeds in the range 1/13 to 1/50 sec the IS on this lens came into its own.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

I think these pics turned out great.
May I ask about your post processing? I used the same body + lens combo yesterday and my pics on ISO200 has extreme amount of noise in the shadows. Lightroom does not seem to be able to do anything with it.

Hi Cybercat

In terms of noise, I selectively apply Noise Reduction (Topaz DeNoise or Nik Define) to the image. For large, monotone regions, I use NR aggressively to smooth out the background noise but I have found that in regions where there is nice detail and tonal variations, I can be less aggressive so these get masked and I hit them with less amounts of NR.

I shoot Raw and use various PS Plug Ins and these do lift the images off the page. I often mask the main subject so the Plug Ins do not affect the background, essentially lifting the subject away from a less interesting BG.

I use the Topaz Adjust, Nik Effects and ON1 Plug Ins depending on the subject and these can certainly add depth and sparkle to the images.

I also try to fill the frame when shooting at high ISO’s which helps manage the noise in the image, as any cropping makes it more difficult to tame the noise. :-)

Cheers

Dennis

Thank you for the tips, I use the same plugins but did not bother with the masking part earlier.
What I do not understand is why my images are noisy on ISO200 on a 5D3. I shoot intentionally on a low ISO to avoid noise completely but still I need to deal with it, it is quite frustrating.
