I was capturing corona images for the Eclipse MegaMovie project. There are a lot of images bracketed across 13 stops of exposure for analysis of the corona at different distances from the Sun.

Here are a few individual shots that I like, as well as one HDR combining about 12 stops.

Near Corona with Chromosphere Prominences

HDR composite - I'll likely work on different tone mapping variations with this data.

Here's mine. I was using a 7D2 with a 100-400 at 400. This shot is pretty close to the full frame. We drove down to Kinkaid Lake near Murphysboro in southern Illinois, so we had 2 minutes and 38 seconds of totality. Once we got there, we were pleasantly surprised to find the recreation area relatively uncrowded.

Great wide-capture! I think you are the first image I've come across which clearly captured Regulus in the image (the star about 1º left of the Sun located in Leo). Bonus points to you!!! ;-)a

My images from McClellanville SC. What a surreal experience, I'll never forget it.

The corona shot was a stack of 5 frames in Photoshop. The 7D II and 500L played well together. I used Live View, one box autofocus.

Really? What site were you at? I was in Hemmingford too, at the Box Butte Fairgrounds from Sunday morning until Tuesday morning. I actually talked with someone there with a black long Tamron lens, a 7D2 maybe a TC. I wonder if that was you?

I just ordered the Hemmingford eclipse shirt this morning by phone. Monday afternoon I stopped in Raben's Food store and one of the employees was wearing one; something they didn't exactly make known to the eclipsers, it seems. I can get you the info if you'd like for one of those. The last order is going in on or by Sept 1st.

*LOL* I pulled into a farm house with this adorable older couple, I remember passing the fairgrounds - so it wasn't me, but I'm sure I passed you.
Funny thing was they went with family to a higher spot, but I was content with the property and windmills, and being on the south side of a hill that kept me out of the wind. They locked the gate, so my son and I were all by ourselves during the eclipse, which was awesome in it's own way.

I'm ok with T-shirts, I have 3 eclipse t-shirts so far, and want one with my picture on it for another one.. *LOL*

TCampbell, is this Regulus? It shows up consistently at 1/100 shutter and slower.

I'm almost done looking through my images. I finally did a composite, everyone has to have one right? lol What a neat experience. I tried to include a little of everything in this, the last two images even show some prominence.

Wasn't able to get away to a better vantage point, so I took these in my New Orleans backyard through light cloud cover, which I think added to the overall scene. Shot with Canon 5D Mark III & EF 100-400 f/4.5 with 6-6 ND, polarizer & north star filters at 1/8000 and -3 exposure compensation.

My first attempt at eclipse photography. I used a 7D2 and 300 2.8 IS+1.4x, plus a DIY solar filter made from Thousand Oaks film and the lid from a Pyrex bowl ... just west of Knoxville, TN (Rockwood/Harriman area).

First time shooting the sun. It all went by so fast! I haven't spent much time post-processing it yet.

Another different & neat approach to the composite! I also made my own filters using the same material.
