the a9 is going to be killer at the race track...today we went with the neighbors up to ride these little mini steam trains...I did a little panning practice at 1/20...on something moving at about 5 mph...and it was a piece of cake to acquire and keep focus...zero blackout in the viewfinder is awesome...I find it so much easier to track smoothly on a race car that is hustling...can't wait, just a couple weeks and I get some practice...knock the rust off.

I need to read the manual though...so much I don't know what to do with yet...

I do miss the 42 MP for portraits though...I suspect I will still do more of that work with the 7R2...they are sharp with the a9, but not as sharp as 42mp...

i'm torn at the moment to be honest.. am tempted to sell it all to fund the a9

I've toyed with the a9 at stores a couple of times.. I like the joystick and that its a bit beefier.. theres only so much testing that can be done with something that's got a 4ft wire lead on it
but still I can tell compared to my a7sii, 80d and xt2 that it is a beast with af..

however truth is , I don't do anything regularly that requires that kind of AF..

i'm mostly doing street , cityscapes , portraits .. and of course vacation/family trips
.
I know logically the a7rii is a better fit .. but cant help but want the a9

I spent a lot of time debating in my head about it... And am glad I sold off what I did to fund it... It will be a great companion to the 7r2.

While shooting small flowers at the house using my Laowa 15 macro lens today, I didn't even notice this spider until I looked at the files on my computer. I decided to switch to my FE 90G macro lens and came up with the 2nd image below. I think my age is starting to get the better of me for shooting macro without a tripod as I had such a hard time getting focus due to camera shake.

It's just GAS. It will go away. Good you can be honest about what your camera usage is.
Just remember, wasn't that long ago $6K bodies only had 8-10mpx and we've all seen
images from these bodies that blew us away. Point, portraiture/wedding/landscape all can
be done with the 24mpx of the a9.
My doctor friend was over tonight sticking needles in my foot (nice to have a doc that makes house calls).
He was the man who bought my a99ii and I was working his images with him onlooking. He was a Nikon guy
for decades but his current Nikon is 10+ years old. Suffice it to say he is crazily impressed with what the A7Rii/a99ii
sensor can do. We took one of his waterfall pics and zoom into a huge crop for a final image-that is just one advantage
over the a9. We pulled shadows like crazy and brought down highlights in ways the a9 cannot.
Point last that just know the limitations of which every body or system you're working with before you go in.
