Thanks Joeseph. I do believe I have posted a similar pic some time back but this time managed to get the colours and scene to look fresh and vibrant with out totally over powering, the problem being terribly easy to over expose what is outside. Funny I took 3 here and these were all usable the other 5 pics I took were total unusable washouts. The IS could not cope with my weak and shaking muscles. :(

I personally am happy with this pic, it tells the story I want, busy and all :)

Hoon.

who me? :p surely not...

It was a Mazda Bongo, Alfred Street Onehunga circa 1982 vintage - their mid-engine design meant that what went up, came down fairly flat.
Probably a good 40mph required for said photo, taken on the bosses camera (who said: take the last couple of shots on the roll & send the film in for developing, so we did...)
Funnily enough, the chap who took the photo, took one very similar almost a minute prior thinking it was me, of another P.O. van (also airborne, but not quite so)

I do recall getting a speeding ticket in a Bongo going down Howe St, and I think the officer wasn't too sure that the reading off his gun suited the vehicle being ticketed...

Need a new tele lens ...... dont do tamron

Canon 100-400 (weathersealed and will take 77mm filters match all my other glass) BIG PLUS
Sigma 50-500
Sigma 150-600

Sigma 300-800 ( umm bit to expensive)
Canon 200-400 ( redo morgage )

Just coming back here after a long time away...
I have 100-400 MkI + MkII, and the girlfriend has the 50-500. Overall I prefer the 100-400MkII. While you lose out on a bit of reach, the lens performs well with the 1.4x on it. About the only thing I dont like is the tripod mount is not really removable... and feels not as secure as the MkI.

The 50-500 is just huge + heavy, let alone the huge filter size (which then adds to weight as carrying additional filters). The plus is it's 'cheaper' - but the girlfriend had to buy:
1. a new bag
2. A new tripod head
3 new filters
As all her current ones didnt fit/hold the weight of the 50-500. Another issue with the 50-500 - there isnt a friction lock to lock the lens when extended - so when shooting at angles - the lens can creep / retract - which apparently made the eclipse here in the US fun to shoot on Monday (US Time). She gets some great shots with it - image quality is very good - just the draw backs on weight

Interesting observation,
Texas flooding news coverage tonight on 3news (so far 30 confirmed dead) approx. 10 minutes coverage.
Flooding in India (over 500 confirmed dead) approx. 30 seconds.

TV News Show used my photo without permission

anyone know what the rules are in N.Z.? I suspect it would pass as "fair useage"

I see that Moppie is the fountain of knowledge as always.

I wonder what station it would be and if it was TVNZ and because it's a public station if that makes any difference.
