This female ruby throat was a first time visitor to my studio this morning (August 30, 2017). She did me a favor and landed on the crocosmia.

Do you have to be a geek to find a thread such as this one cool? In any case, I've only recently found it, here's my first contribution (which is, incidentally, my first ever successful attempt at birding).

Just created my own website and starting to put my best work into it, I have decided to put a watermark through all my images in there, here is one - does it look ok?

P.

HOSTED PHOTO DISPLAY FAILED: ATTACH id 873718 has been deleted. ]

Honestly? No.

A small discrete mark in the corner or a creative edit incorporating a small logo into the context of the image is generally sufficient.

Large watermarks immediately destroy the photograph for me. Doesn't matter what level of transparency, text overlays seriously compromise the quality of the work. Others should weigh in but my 2c is you are more likely to get negative reactions to the example you provided.

Your usual Pag<year> in the lower right looks good to me. Maybe spice it up like some of the logos in this thread. You just need to stay on top of enforcing your copyright.

Why I changed it is because a logo in free space like I was, is so so easy to clone out, but with the above less so also I keep the original jpeg with no watermark on it at all.

P.

I could be in the minority as far as adverse reactions go. If it works for you that's all the matters.

The theft of a photo with a basic sig, happened to someone on another forum, the person who stole it even posted it on other forums saying it was his, it is still un-resolved and very upsetting for the original owner.

Yeah, I'm sure it happens.

On the other hand, posting something that is not attractive (to some) defeats the purpose of posting (for those).

I had a look, and the website looks great to me, a clean look, logically laid out. The pics look good. If the watermark works for you, that is fine. :-)

I like it, Pag, but as a grammar freak it needs some text editing on the home page.....we are sort of OCD about it here, sorry.

I am looking to set one up and the more web sites I can see the more I can try to figure out what I want out of mine....I've been struggling with this for most of the year and can't make my mind up......
