I actually returned my 685s for the 860. It's not that much more expensive and it takes a rechargeable lithium ion battery. I got tired of blowing through AA stuff every few days (they go fast!).
I also got the tt350. Which is great. It's the same functionality, only much smaller footprint (so it's great for taking on the go).
Both triggered by the X1T trigger...Works a charm. Does TTL and everything. You've seen some of the portraits I've posted lately.
I use it more for event style shooting, so it's fine.
I did around 300+ shots on a set of batteries and no battery changes, so I'm good with that. For products or portraits, I've got the 600ws flash. Sufficient power for most applications.
the smaller stuff is really just for fill, not key light. So I've got the non TTL hotshoe flash, TTL hotshoe flash, and Xplore 600. Sometimes the hotshoe stuff cant even fill fast enough for the bigger key light, but not a big deal.
I got it while they were like 50 non TTL and 80 TTL, and you had to buy as a set, so no big deal. One of those christmas sales from adorama a while back. Will get the TT350 before my next family trip.
