I have been taking a break from photography during the dog days of summer but eagle nesting season should ramp up within the nest month or so in my area and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. My main focus this year will be locating new nesting sites away from the crowds of people at the known nesting sites but I will check on the nests around my home like the one I followed last year. The male eagle is somewhat tolerant but his mate wants nothing to do with people. Where this nest is located they both forage on road kill (unfortunately) and they sometimes offer up some unique opportunities like the male did last April when I found him dining on a snapping turtle. Nothing was wasted because several Turkey Vultures picked the turtle clean after he was done.

Hello Duane, glad to see you are still loving those Eagles, beautiful detail and texture here. Did this one get the turtle or get lucky?
