I hate the way I took this picture because I was in a rush returning the lens. Posting it anyway.

why you're returning it? what you don't like about it?

One of my friends is the official photographer for New Zealand Fashion Week.

I had an invite to go today and take some shots with him from his position right in front. My first time shooting something like this and had to use my Canon 70-200 f4L with my MC 11 adapter on my A7mkii.
Would really liked to have had an f2.8 lens, but still happy with the shots I got. Very interesting experience and very enjoyable.

Thank you, was great fun and way out of my comfort zone for photography. Especially surrounded by all the "pros"

A funny story-when I first got my A7Rii I was checking the image quality and ability to crop in and was underwhelmed. I began comparing old picks from my D810 etc and feeling a little confused and disappointed-the image quality was no where what I was expecting....something just wasn't right. Funnily enough even though I had noticed my field of view with my 20mm deemed a little different to what I was used to the light bulb hadnt come on.

Then one day I checked my file sizes...hmmm whats all this complaining about file sizes, mine are only 8mb. Then it dawned on me-the camera was set in crop mode!!!

I then set to full frame and wow!! Now that's better, that's what I was expecting. In the blink of an eye I now had NSA level crop ability and the huge file sizes to match. And the image quality was so much better lol

I wonder how many other people didn't come to this realisation and potentially sold the camera dissapointed?

it happened to me once sadly. Epic sunset and epic fail on my part. At least I got some stitched pano's, so not all was lost. I was shooting a zoom, so it was not all that evident. Now, crop mode is simply set to off, and will only turn on for video if I need reach.

Really contemplating ordering a 100-400mm GM to see what I think from my own experience. If it's great (fit for me) I can keep it (and sell all my Batis lenses to defray the cost), or I can find out for sure that it's not for me.

But, it's got me wondering what the ideal max-reach/AF solution is. a6500 + 1.4x? And I wonder if an a6700 (or whatever they name it) with a9 like AF skills is coming soon?

I have the a6300 and plan on testing it and the 100-400GM combo today. I don't have the 1.4 extender yet but it might be fun to throw on the 2x extender that I do have. :-)

It's about 5:15 am my time right now and I can hear thunder and see the occasional flash of lightning so today may not be the best day to shoot...

Nice sunstar through the tree Travis. I'm going to get that CV12mm too. It was great meeting you and David in person. Thanks again to both of you for making some time for me.

Here is my first image from my Atlanta/northern Georgia trip. I was there for business but managed to shoot every day for almost 2 weeks.

A nice rapid at Vickery Creek in Roswell

My newest toys arrived late yesterday afternoon, the Sony FE 100-400GM and the 2x extender. Hopefully, I'll have time to get some test shots in this morning.

When I ordered the lens, I was going to get the 1.4 extender but they were out of stock. So on a spur of the moment, I decided to get the 2x now instead since it was in stock. I'll be getting the 1.4 extender later too.

Temperatures have been near 114° with thunder clouds building up in the afternoon so not the best weather to want to be outside shooting...

I really like the contrast between the tree branch and the black waters.

lol there needs to be a bigger crop mode notification on the screen....or it needs to reset to FF mode when you shut the camera off. I've done that crap many times!
