Being deconstructed... does that mean they will reconstruct it on another site? I sure hope so!

Unfortunately no. Our city has a 100 year deconstruction mandate. Any residence over 100 years must be dismantled by hand. Sometimes it's recycled and sometimes it goes to the landfill.

Our city, like many others on the West coast, is going through a major growth spurt. Homes which sit on a lot that can be split into two lots are being gobbled up by developers like crazy. They build two mostly huge homes, with no yards, and sell them for a premium ($550-1.5 million). It's a sad infectious disease.

My personal photo assignment for the past few years has been documenting this wanton destruction.
