Took the M5 to the kids soccer this morning with the 100-400mm.
Note to self: always check for memory card before leaving home!
Note to self 2: Time to replace the emergency CF card I keep in my wallet with a SD...

Oh no - hate it when that happens, or battery goes flat!

For lack of a better place to post, does anyone know what type of snake this is? This is the best shot I could get with the M5, 18-150mm

Can't find anything that is a definite match. But it might be a yellow bellied water snake http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov …ellow-bellied-water-snake (external link) Whatever it is it is not venomous.

I'm thinking it could what they call here a "rat snake". I'm hoping it's not a King snake because my wife wants me to kill it as she is always working in this garden and doesn't want to step on it by mistake. It doen't seem to have a diamond head (poisonous) but "seem" is not a definate term. Thanks for your response.

King snakes are not venomous either. In fact they eat other snakes. I was thinking rat snake too, but black rat snakes have white bellies and the head is a little off.
All of the venomous snakes in North America have your typical diamond shaped head and very fat body. The only exception is the coral snake which is very brightly colored.

I think you are right on about the snake, the following is a helpful site on telling the difference between a water snake and or a Cottonmouth/Water Moccasin if you are interested. It's poisonous if it has slits for eyes, a definate neck, blocky diamond shape head., thicker tails (less of a tail) Thanks again

The M5 is finally getting some use! I find now that I have the 6D II, the M5 is used for when I can't be bothered carrying a large body around.
