Haven't shared much in a while. Been very busy in general. So here's an engagement session I shot for my friends last fall at Ha Ha Tonka state park in central Missouri.

Nice set. #5 they are like blending too much with the background IMO.

Thanks! I see what you mean. Probably could have brightened them up a bit more (or vice versa).

In picture 1 the sun flare doesn't make much sense as the light source seems to be from the right and behind. I think it only serves as a distraction. Also that white string looking thing by his foot should be removed.

The other color ones all seem a bit too saturated. At least for me....

Thanks for the feedback! That sun flare is exactly how it came out of the camera. They said that was actually one of their favorites, specifically because of the flare. And good catch on that string looking thing...I didn't even notice that.

On the color, to each his own! Though I have adjusted my editing style a bit since I did these and tend to go a little less vivid. I still like them though:-)

I like that your set has no direct eye contact, only the first pic where she's looking at your lens. I need to try this more often. I am set on always trying to get direct eye contact (Very old school). I will try this on my next session. Great set here, keep up the great work.

Thank you! That's something I learned from my own wedding photographer. Her guidance was that the moment was about us, not about her and the camera. We should be focusing on each other and the photos would look far more natural. There were some posed, look-at-the-camera moments, but not entirely. It was refreshing and I've taken that more documentary-type approach with all my shoots since then. It's worked out well.

Thank you and woohoo for Missouri! Whereabouts in STL are you located? I went to high school on the IL side.

Apparently my previous comment was taken down.

These are very well done. I'm personally a fan of the 85mm look, but that's me. Skin tones appear a touch red, but that could be personal preference.
