and great work everyone! Since I recently became disenchanted with Canon's full frame offerings, Nikon suddenly looks much better than it once did, and the pics in this thread certainly make the D750 look like a real workhorse.

Yeah, I guess I kinda figured that. Being that Nikon does make a 105 micro, I thought I might inquire about it. Okay thanks.

Hey russ! I used to chat with you on the SX10-20 Forums - how are you buddy.

Hey Mr. Pagman,

I do remember. If you revisit the sx10 forum you'll see I was a victim of Photobucket like quite a few others. I see you have a d7100. I'm on "Nikon Cafe" also under russ49. I have this d750 but just purchased a Canon M5 mirrorless. I like the WB colors of Canon and Nikon, that's why I bought another Canon. I do still have my sx10 and dust the cobwebs off of it once in awhile. How's it going with you?

Hiya russ, yep the D7100 is going fine its teamed with the excellent screw drive nikkor 300 f4 , and the two of them have married for life, I have a new site up and running now - have a look let me know what you think.

1st photo is a decent shot at ISO7200 with the 85mm f/1.8 nikkor. Bokeh seems good as well as noise at this 35% crop. This is a jpeg shot with no noise reduction in post processing. Meta data for ISO is wrong above the pic, if you go to the flickr site below the picture the correct data is displayed.

Anybody have a recommendation for the best 24-70 f/2.8 lens on a D750? I have read countless reviews that state to either get the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 Di VC USD or a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 VR. Was leaning towards the Tamron for the economical aspect.

Personal experiences/preferences?

Thanks in advance!

How does your Tamron 70-200 do for you? I'm thinking 24-70 might behave similarly.

If you want the absolute best 24-70/2.8 lens get the Nikon VR. For most people the Tamron will probably be good enough

Mr. Garrett,
If you haven't checked out DXOmark this page shows a comparison of the different lenses and what they think is the best. You have to scroll down the page to see the results of the 24-70 lenses. They have a comparison and prices about 1/2 way down the page:

Thank you very much! I wish I could find scores on the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 version as well. It doesn't look like DXOmark has tested that yet.

After some additional research, it looks like there may be some new contenders for some of these top lens spots; this article was written in 2015!

the camera was originally made in 2014 so I guess many of the tests were done in '14 and '15.
