I have a 5D3 and have been playing with time lapse a bit lately. These are just short clips but I can see how longer ones will eat up the shutter life in a hurry. So what do more serious time-lapsers do? Suck it up and burn through a $3500 camera's shutter in a few months? Buy gently used xxD series cameras for cheap and run them into the ground?
What about a mirrorless camera and electronic shutter? Obviously they would need external power because the battery life is pretty poor. Is rolling shutter an issue in time lapse?
Does the EOS-M have an electronic shutter mode? That would mean being able to use all of my Canon glass easily.
