Sad 911 everyone. I don't wanna say "Happy" since it was one of the saddest day in U.S. history.

Beautiful Alfredo. The image is tipped down on the left a bit. At first, when I tried an auto 'upright' fix, it made no difference but when I applied a horizontal level from bank to bank in the water, it leveled out fine. I can include my result for comparison if you'd like.

digital_AM wrote in post #18449208 (external link)
Gene, I used DxO to straighten the verticals. Those are straight but I guess I didn't pay attention to the horizontal level. I will take a look tonight. Thank you.

I pay more attention to the verticals in the buildings, and any horizontals in them...the lake shore might not be a good reference point, due to any contour or irregularity in the shoreline. Gene when I open the image you posted, the verticals are off...for me in architectural images that is a big no-no.

It must be the sailor in me that gets a little queasy when the water leans to the left.

The horizon tilt attracted my attention more than the building tilt but from an architectural point of view, I can see where vertical lines might prevail.

Oh, regarding the lake shore reference points, I also judged by the floatsum on the water and thought it should be horizontal too.

DXo has a 4 point method...but I have had very little luck getting it to work right...

I wanted to pass along two shooting tips today.

Tip #1:

I learned a new technique when shooting waterfalls today. If you want that nice soft diffused glowy light coming from the top of your waterfall, breathe on to your lens and then as it evaporates take your shot. Blend in the shot with your main waterfall shot for a nice result. I wish I had known this several weeks ago to try it out. Tip courtesy from YouTuber Michael Breitung.

Tip #2:

To achieve critical focus using manual focus, open up your aperture to say f3.2 and manually focus on an area in the scene. Then when you have focus dialed in, close down your aperture to say f11 without touching your focus ring on your lens. This worked well for me on my recent trip, especially on my Loxia lenses.

Got a good deal on the Flashpoint eVOLV 200 and had a chance to try it out.

I'll have to try that manual focus technique next time.

In the mean time here's a quick snapshot of a decoration prototype for a 1 year old's princess birthday cake. I wanted to take it out of the cap, but the resident pastry chef threatened to break my camera if I so much as breathed on it. :-D

Let me guess: the new camera has 24 megapixels.
Or maybe Sony is finally going to fill that 50mm f/1.6 hole in their lens lineup. ;)

Kidding aside this will be fun to watch, or perhaps really painful if it's something super-cool I can't possibly afford.

... and the GAS continues...

for me one more upgrade(whatever the flaws of A7RII) and I'm good with camera bodies.

Got my new to me Lox 35 f2.0 lens today. First impressions are that I really love the size. The lens hood is compact. The focus dial is not quite as resistant as my Loxia 21. I think I may have some smearing in the left bottom corner. Need to do more testing.

Here are some test shots with only my default capture sharpening applied in Lightroom. All on tripod with IBIS disabled.

Congrats on the Loxia 35.

What was the shutter speed? Was EFCS off?
