Phoenixkh a mere speck More info | Sep 12, 2017 20:57 | #7569 Since I'm new to the 6D family, how do most of you have your camera set up? For instance, in the menu, I set things for focus priority when that is an option. I usually use AI Servo with back button AF all the time but is that the best way to use the 6D? Most of what I will be shooting will be moving to some degree, unless I'm locked down on a tripod in single shot shooting a landscape scene. sirquack Goldmember ![]() More info | I use my 6D the same way you appear to be using your previous body. I shoot AI Servo, Back Button Focus and usually manual with me choosing shutter and aperture. I always have ISO on auto unless I am shooting bracketed shots or no variable light conditions (studio, all shade, all light). I have taken many shots in the 20k to 25.6k ISO range and even in those ranges the image still cleans up incredibly well. The main thing I had to gets used to was letting the ISO go higher than 3200, which is where I had to stop on my original T3i. Once you got with the 6D, you will be ruined for life on it's ability to see in the dark with the center point. Yes the outers are not as responsive, but I can focus and recompose in almost complete darkness with that center point. Don't let anyone convince you other wise. Name is Ron.

I'll use my 1D IV for birding but want to use the 6D for people and landscapes. I know my 1D IV stops focusing when things get dim and the 6D can focus when you can no longer see (slight exaggeration, perhaps). Phoenixkh a mere speck More info | Sep 13, 2017 00:44 | #7573 Mystery solved. The previous owner had it set for silent shooting. When I switched to either single or continuous, the shutter mechanism sounded more familiar, though unique to the 6D, as I expected. Every DSLR I've had has had a distinctive shutter sound.
