Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM

Lol - really - 2 1/2 months since the last post??
Well, I finally made it to this club, having picked up a mint 300 a couple of days ago.
Stoked to take in some university soccer tomorrow.
I couldn't wait to play with it, and what else does one shoot with this classic lens - but a little landscape shot of Mt. Baker and sunflowers of course. Pulled over on the highway on the journey back home about 2 minutes after picking the lens up and had to shoot something.

The once most raved about and desired Canon lens (along with the 400 2.8) now hardly talked about and sliding into Canon history.

Not here, still love mine and intend to keep it for many years to come

I thoroughly enjoy mine for soccer, however I think the lens preferred by many is a 400 f/2.8 IS.
Also think it depends on accessibility to locations around the pitch. I'm fortunate to have full access to shoot from ends as well as sidelines, and find the 300 works well for me.

I did shoot soccer since 2007, and my trust main lens is 300, so it can be a capable enough lens if you know how and where to use, and if you have a capable cropped body it will be even better, i used this lens on 4 bodies generations and it proves strong on all of them, but it lost its shiny with older models until i used it on 1DX and it shines again.

I shoot with the press, some using 400, and some 300 as mine or newer version, and some with 70-200, and we all get keepers, i didn't find that 400 giving more keeper than 300, but the only thing that 400 is better is the bokeh against players in BG, and our playing actions mostly boring for any lens, i remember one game that most playing happened very closed to use, so those with 400 and even 300 were watching, while with 70-200 were laughing.
