Sainte Mere Eglise in Normandy. D-Day 1944. The well-known incident involving paratrooper John Steele of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. His parachute got caught on the spire of the church. He hung there pretending to be dead for two hours before the Germans took him prisoner.

Saint Malo church of Canville la Rocque near Portbail, Normandy.

On the wall of the side chapel is a fresco depicting the legend of the hanging man.
A couple and their son left Germany to go to Santiago. They rest on their journey at an inn. The maid of the inn made advances to the son who refused her. In revenge she planted a silver goblet in his baggage and called the men-at-arms who discovered the goblet and arrested the young man. He was tried and sentenced to be hanged. The distraught parents continued to Santiago. On their return they were surprised to find their son still hanging from the gallows but he was still alive. They run to tell the judge who was about to eat a meal with his quests. He tells the parents that their son is no more alive than the poultry roasting on the spit. Immediately the cock and a hen skewered on the spit began to sing. Troubled by this miracle the judge and the parents go to the gallows and sets free the son. The maid is questioned, confesses and was condemned to be burned.

my biggest pet peeve with mine and other shots especially large expanses like these churches and cathedrals is getting the horizon lines straight. If you notice there are a lot of beautiful shots here with slightly crooked horizons. The angles are mostly wide to very wide and sliding horizons are noticeable. I fight this and try to fix in post, and even then sometimes i don't get it right!!
