Another shot from my night out at Lake Cuyamaca, this one's a composite of two images (both taken the same night) as I wasn't able to occupy "the spot" at the entrance to the pier while our galaxy was lined up with the end of it.

Love it! I still need to go here, do you have to camp or is the lake always accessible?

It's always accessible, the (mild) problem is parking. The pier is right off the parking lot of the tent camping area. There's a $10 fee for day use, but there is no drop-box for late arrivals. So if you get there late, and leave early in the morning, there literally isn't a way to pay...

My son and I slept in the back of our big SUV in the parking lot of the tent camping area, we were gone shortly before sunrise so ended up not paying. I even asked the ranger making the night rounds and he said he couldn't take payments.... Oh well, I don't feel too bad about it since we legitimately tried to pay several times. Just made sure not to make a mess and to clean up behind us, not anything else that we could have done.

Definitely prefer the more natural colors in the sky of this one, compared to the first. This shot does a great job of capturing a certain mood and feeling.

T5i. Standard Canon zoom. Big Canon zoom. Wide Canon zoom. Plasticy Canon prime. Sony a6000 and a bunch of crappy old lenses plus a Samyang 12mm 2.0. Pentax K-5. Manfrotto tripod and head.

Next time, drop a night's payment in one of the campsite drop boxes if you really want to pay.
