In the middle of this shot there is a hazy patch, is this the dreaded 'scratched front element' the G's suffer from ??

I'm afraid it is -? I can usually get rid of the dreaded patch but must have missed this one - failing eyesight does not help.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

Weald and Downland Living Museum, SE England. This restored villagfe is well worth a visit. The buildings range in date from c. 1530-1770

Stiga and anyone else in the UK, if you ever get the chance, be sure to visit St. Fagans Castle in Cardiff, Wales. It is now the National Museum of History and was once owned by Edward Lewis of Y Fan, Caerphilly, of whom I'm descended.

Here's more info on the castle and its history.

 What is really amazing to me is that my line of the Lewis family arrived in this country in 1630, more than 100 years before the Revolutionary War.

Recently, I became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution by proving my lineage back to my 5th great grandfather, Benjamin (1740-1789) who fought at Lexington on the first day of the war, April 19, 1775.

Jon and Doc, glad these old shots stirred interests. Interest in genealogy is growing now that there is so much online and that DNA analysis can sometimes help. My wife can trace her Scottish heritage back to a road sweeper on the Isle of Lewis in the late 1700s. And a distant cousin in Houston can link to the same man with the help of DNA testing!

Thank you both :-)
