I am amazed at how close I am was able to get to this very curious bird. Using a kayak to shoot from, at one point I drifted so close that I was no longer able to focus on him. My 500mm lenses minimum focus distance is around 15 feet, and I had to paddle backwards to retain focus . It continued to pace back, and forth I guess trying to figure out what I was. At one point disregarding the scary angler approaching from behind in a bigger boat, it continued to pose for me.

Very nice! I like the shot of the fishing boat - shows how small and vulnerable birds are.
