This is exactly what made me sell my 7D2 after I bought the 5D4.

I ditched mine ASAP to get the 5D4

Is there much edge distortion on a prime? Just curious vs a zoom lens. I apologize if this was asked already.

Sorry about the flurry of posts, I'm catching up on 1200 posts just now :p

hey mate, as long as you get your levels right i find the sigma 14 handles distortion extremely well, that shot was taken in very tight confined space too

take this shot for example, no distortion correction was made:

Hi everyone. I currently have the 1D Mk IV (1.3 crop) and am looking to go to FF. Would I see a big jump in quality with the move to the 5DIV? I know there are hundreds of posts out there where everyone just yawned at this camera when it came out, but since you all have used this camera for awhile I was just wondering your thoughts before I go shell out the $$. Would I be better suited to go to sony a7ii or the Fuji? Cant really afford to go all out on new systems, so I just wanted to get your input. Landscapes, special events, sports and seniors/models are the usual subjects.

thanks again

Had the 1D4 and now have the 5D4. There are three things the 1D4 does or does better, the frame rate, 7 vs 10 fps, spot metering linked to individual AF points and the massive long life battery.

EVERYTHING else about the 5D4, IMHO, is better.

I don't shoot many critters now a days, and when I do I usually use my 7D2. But here's a couple with the 5DIV.

I've been wondering about this too. I ended up getting another
1DIV because the 5D4 is out of my price range.

I picked up a decently priced 6Dc for landscapes and indoor shots.
I think my dream combo would be the 5D4 with a 1D X 2.

I am enjoying the photographs in this thread. So many great shots here.

Thanks for the response. I agree on the frame rate and battery life; mine was purchased with only 4k on the shutter, and coming from a 1DIII it is still a great camera. I also got to use a 1DXII at Canon in Costa Mesa and it was a beast! But I went and ordered the 5d4 from canon yesterday, so we will see how it works. Anybody have any recommendations on use of the camera-AF settings, custom functions, etc? any issues you all have found with the camera to be on the lookout for? Mine is a refurb unit with canon 1-yr warranty so just trying to get a heads up on this.
