after done processing the keepers (goes into the NAS), bye bye raws, only rated stay. Many of the Rated arent even processed. The way I see it, I may have 1 TB of keepers after a decade, vs 10-20TB. I know I'de rather manage backups of a single Terabyte over 10-20.
another strategy I do to manage size is that if I'm shooting an event or home snapshots, I'll simply use a dng converter on import to get me a 10MP file (so fast working on 5Dish like files, but with all the benefits of dynamic range and high iso), then work from there. I generally reserve full 42mp raws for my personal landscape shooting or shots intended on big prints.
