Thanks for the feedback Charlie. It's hard to wrap your head around all of the options available once you start looking at adapting. I think I need to invest in a metabones IV. I still have a metabones III, and it isn't too useful these days since I can't update the firmware.

BTW, anyone know if there are any Nikon adapters that won't fry your camera?

stay away from Nikon, some lenses have mechanical aperture, some have electronic! Some of the focus is screw driven, some not!

you'de need a really advance adapter with very good firmware, and only two good with firmware are metabones and sigma. They dont make anything for nikon, so pass..

I've seen MBIV's on FM for roughly the price of MC-11's. I sold my MC-11 near new for 220, and at that price, you may be able to score an MBIV-T.

the MBiii should still be able to do green mode right? might as well try it.

There's a MB 5 now. Not sure what the difference from 4 is

I just tried the MBIII and eye AF works with it! It works all the way to the edge of the frame too, whereas the Sigma is limited to the middle thirds of the frame. The downside is that it can't track while burst firing. I'm sure the later firmwares work better too. I might try to snag an MBIV

I think it has an LED to indicate what mode you're in. Firmware is the same though

Lol. a7III is right around the corner.

Just pulled the trigger on a MBIV from FM. If anyone wants an MC-11, let me know.

a7iii may be dumbed down enough for me to skip it. I have the A7ii for a second body, and to replace it, it needs ALL of the features of the A7rii (minus the megapixels).

Honestly, I still love the A7rii very much, and my biggest issue is not having AF points for adapted lenses work as good as native, I want across the frame PDAF in all lighting conditions ;-)a

anything else is just minor for me. I can certainly make due with the a7ii as a second camera, but it does annoy me at times. I need to save up for a trip, so I shouldnt spend much on camera stuff :-P I should be spending more on experiences than gear! If sony brings those AF firmware to the A7rii, I'm definitely skipping future models :-P Eyefocus on the CV 35, so much gravy :-D, currently using small point to achieve the same, and works great.

Better gear = better experiences lol

Rumors seem to indicate that the a7III will inherit the a9's AF system. If that's the case, even if they eliminate everything else in the a9, it's still a worthwhile update. a7rII really is a great cam even after 2 years. I don't see myself getting rid of it. Give it a slightly better AF system and improve the responsiveness, I'd say it'd be the perfect cam.

DR nightmare. Some noise on the jacket. Trying to pull details out of a black suit while shooting in the middle of the day is where you'll see the limitations of the a9's DR.

I agree on the A7Rii. I am a fairly recent convert to Sony (last 25 years with Canon). However I have fallen in love with the A7Rii, even after only 3 months. If they added the AF, joystick and zero blackout to the A7riii, I would switch in a heartbeat
