This was from the last weekend in July and is my cousin's dog. For some reason I can't think of her name right now...

Minolta XG-1, 50mm F2, Portra 400.

Shooting foster dogs for a friend. Focus whiffed a lot; I shouldn't have used the CPL, but I was worried about the harsh sunlight. Next time it's staying home regardless.

And this wasn't even cheap ones; they were the Kasemans!

I do a lot of dog photography - forget the 5D3 for this purpose. Its focusing system simply cannot deal with fast moving objects with minimal contrast. I use the 7D2 for this mostly and though it has the same focusing system as the 1Dx it still fails often. Also I use single AF point extended with 4 other points to help with focusing.

What about 5D4? I'd much sooner pick one of those up after some of the stories on the 100-400ii thread about mushy images from the 7D2. And I do love FF.

And regardless, still am not likely to, as the 5D3 does well for everything else I shoot and these ones are still much better than the iPhone pics that the foster dogs get otherwise for their adoption campaigns.

No idea about the 5D4. I think it is ridiculously expensive and none of the new functionalities appeal to me, I do not need them so it is not worth the price for me. My guess is that it is not too much better in this area. Fast moving dogs require cameras designed for sports photography, 7D2, 1Dx, 1Dx2. I would rather pick up a 1Dx than a 5D4.

Sorry but that is nonsense in this case. There are clear areas of strong contrast on the dogs the AF points could have been set up to target with good composition.

Not sure why LonelyBoy is calling foul on his CPL.

The error in these images rests squarely with the photographer not the equipment :-)
