First of the season Fox Sparrows arrived here September 29th and continue to kick up the detritus in our yard. They are one of my favorite sparrows.

Thank you so much, all of you; I very much appreciate your taking the time to comment. I've always liked things that are 'of the north' and the Fox Sparrow is certainly one of them. They are a taiga nesting bird that passes through here on migration in spring and fall. I love their size, though they are not the largest of sparrows, and I love their coloration. And they certainly are energetic as they dig through the dead leaves under our trees. Again, thank you all for commenting.
