This is not a great location to shoot from, but there really is no GREAT location in or near my town to shoot trains that I am aware of.

This train was just sitting when I spotted it.

Another train came flying by as I was there...

Ive not found a place in elkhart. In new carlisle on smilax is a decent place to shoot near us. One saturday evening i had 6 trains in 45 minutes!

I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather.
Not screaming, terrified, like his passengers.

New Carlisle is farther than I wish to drive. I am happy for you that you found a decent place to shoot trains!

Newly restored Merchant Navy class No. 35018 "British India Line" had a bit of a mixed debut on the Carnforth to York "Lune Rivers Trust" excursion 30.09.17.

The first shot shows it struggling for grip and leaking steam from the right hand side as it struggled to get to the water stop at Hellifield.

The second shot shows 35018 apparently cured after the Hellifield stop and flying towards Skipton.

Unfortunately the loco was taken off at York with a major mechanical problem and another loco had to return the train to Carnforth.
