As you can see how low it sits on the AB-B2 is the same as the Pro-s. You can see the profile of the amazon ring vs the low profile ring. The mount screws will get jammed or prevent the brackets from mounting.

What modifiers are you using, and how are you connecting them to the 600, now that you've got the low profile thing in the Bowens mount?

I use Cheetahstand Cheetah QuickSeries and QuickSilver series modifiers, but you can use them on any modifier that can take a 6" insert ring. (example EZpro takes a 6" insert ring)

I understand that there might be slight differences between different power levels and HSS, but typically nothing huge.

difference in "temperature" between 1/1 and 1/128 is _HUGE_ for example with Godox... try yourself on any WB target.

Send me a couple AD600 units and a 1200 watt remote head and I will be sure to post complete scientific results.

Warm and cold / blue and amber is ok.

A magenta cast, as it shows up in HSS mode at lower power levels might be ugly.

If you mix flash with daylight, and that is, what I bought my two Godox for, it might turn out really strange.

I did a CEO shooting in an office with daylight falling through white curtains in the background and gave a little light with my two Godox in HSS mode. Due to the f/1.4 aperture power level was low, like 1/32 or so.

The curtains show slight magenta/green cast. Not sexy at all and requires post processing.

That is nothing, that could be helped with a custom camera profile. Having two different tints of light in one image is not a question of white balance.

I can´t show the images, well, simply because it was a CEO shooting and the client would like it, but I will try to repeat a similar setting and then post some examples.

Best,

Bernd

So it’s all over social media - Adorama has the
“Flashpoint XPLOR 600 HSS Battery-Powered Monolight For Canon (Bowens M) (AD600)”

With Flashpoint R2 TTL Transmitter for Canon incl

$399 and no charge for expedited shipping.

I surfed directly to the Adorama site and yep it’s there.

Amazing deal! Shame I don't need another one, at this point.

Note that they have the kits for Nikon, Sony and Fuji at the same discount (strobe is the same, but the R2 transmitter will vary with the kit)

I think that anyone relying on reverse engineered TTL protocol should expect issues, simple as that. EVERY company that offers 3rd party TTL will suffer from compatibility issues. Simple as that, so if you need TTL from 3rd party units you simply have to accept that fact.

The scuttlebutt is that Godox will release an improved model of the ad600 in December. That's both good news and bad news.

That coffee-dispenser news is welcome, and it can only improve.....hoping Godox is tackling all the shortcomings in the AD600 without loosing backwards-compatible to the existing AD600 accessories.

Shortcomings:

- posing light
- in-mature s-fit (Bowens)
- rattling handle which is not very controllable
