This is the second time I have seen this lens at this price. Last time I read www.the-digital-picture.com (external link) 's review and decided to pass. Lots of CA and not all that sharp on the longer end.

It is very tempting though.

Agreed. Decent glass is hard to come by if budget is a huge concern. This IS a deal. On a related note, I have the Tokina 11-20 f/2.8. Build quality is good, and I find it quite acceptable at f/2.8, and better stopped down. Nothing wrong with Tokina.

I picked it up the last time it sold for this price. For the price it's decent. For $449 it would not be worth it.
