Excellent formation shots! Numbers 3 & 4 are my favs. You need to print & frame these. Looks like the 1.4x doesn't degrade IQ.
How was AF performance with the extender?

One of my favorite lens combos is the 300 f2.8 IS II and 2xIII. It works pretty well on my 1D4 and 80D, and I would expect the combo
to work even better on the 1DXII. In time I'll find out.

Thanks Bud. I find the AF hardly affected by the 1.4x. As I'm sure you're familiar with these lower-shutterspeed photos, majority of the error lies with the shooter, not the equipment. My panning skills is subpar (didn't use tripod/monopod) and for HB, facing the sun, the harsh backlighting added to the challenge.

I think the equipment performed marvelously. The idiot behind the lens, not so much.

Does anybody have a link or some pointers to the best (however you define that) group of settings for two different situations:
1. Birds in flight
2. Birds sitting in trees or otherwise not moving much

Thanks for any suggestions!

Dave

I recorded some 4K footage to a cf card on the 1dx Mark II. I could play it back in the camera, but when I upload it to the computer, it says that the footage is corrupted - any suggestions? It isn’t all of the footage, it’s about half of the footage. Is there a way to fix it?

The corruption is to video. I was transferring footage to my external hard drive, some of the footage did successfully transfer, then the transfer stopped with an error message, saying that the footage could not be transferred because it was damaged or corrupt. I could view the footage in camera just fine.

Fantastic capture, only thing for me - have you tried cropping some of the frame off the left side to take the kitten away from the centre? Just a thought ;-)a

The pose of the cat and the fact that it looks straight at the camera, centered worked perfect for me. I actually cropped it so it can be in the center :-)

I'm struggling with my Blue Angels photos. Afternoon sun on the west coast providing the world's most powerful backlight is nearly impossible to overcome on many of these.

Nice. Could have been cropped a little.
