That's how beauty shots work. personally it's oversmooth. but at least with my skin retouching, you can always see textures.

85GM vs 100STF Bokeh War.

85GM FTW with a huge night and day difference. Checkout the difference in shutter speed too to achieve the same exposure.

I think the STF only wins in bokeh balls when there's lights in the background.

Vinz, not much of a fair fight since f/1.4 vs f/5.6. Can you compare both at same aperture? I thought the whole point of the STM was nice bokeh?

That's why i compared them because they labeled it as the Bokeh Master. it's way way faster in autofocus though that's why i'm intrigue if the bokeh is really better. i'm mostly shooting strobe now so the T5.6 is not a problem to me. but epic fail on the bokeh department.

Thats my point, you are comparing different apertures so wont be able to tell anything. You should check the GM at f/5.6 vs the STM at same aperture and it will give you a better feel for it. An f/1.4 is always going to beat a f/5.6 if shooting both wide open. It just depends if you can live without f/1.4

yah if 100STF miraculously better than the 85GM in bokeh, i am willing to trade since i like shooting with strobe now. T5.6 isn't a factor anymore. it's because it's way way faster in auto focus. i used both yesterday at the shoot and the 100's AF is instant. the 85GM hunts sometimes.

i don't know why they labeled it F2.8 T5.6, F2.8 is not showing in the camera. open wide it's F5.6

Budget friendly G version for 999? I can hope. The FE 85 is fantastic, please be like that. Simple build, focus hold button, compact size and lightweight. If it's monstrous, I'll just keep the sigma 135 and update down the line, the sigma does kick some major butt
