I dragged my son along to do a photoshoot with the desert wildflowers in the Anza Borrego desert. He humored me by posing for a few shots - this is my favorite. We are hoping for a lot of rain this winter - if that happens the flowers will be nothing short of amazing for 2018.

My mother in law has terminal cancer and is set up for home hospice. My wife, who is a former bedside nurse, prepping up an I.V. drip for her. It's been hard on her, but I've been proud to see her in her element and doing her duty as both a nurse and daughter.

The I.V. stand hadn't been delivered yet, so we improvised and used a light stand.

Really moving picture. I can't imagine how hard that must be on your wife.

+++++++++++++++

For the rest of this moment, I just really liked the warm color this old 5Dc grabbed from the available light so I kept it in color.

Great b&w conversions. What's the secret?

Nothing fancy, I just use Nik Collection -> Silver EFex Pro 2 and slightly adjust the default values a little bit depending on the image. If the image has lots of shadows I may lift shadows a little before doing this and then I give it a healthy dose of contrast.

Very best,
