A tale of three coyotes. On Saturday we went to San Luis National Wildlife Refuge. This was the third of three coyotes that we spotted. This one was trotting down the road when we came around a corner. He ran into the grass just beyond the trees on the side of the road and stopped. We pulled up and there was a small window where we could see him through the trees. I took this picture through the side window of the car since I was sure he'd run off if I waited to open the window or get out of the car.

On Saturday we went to San Luis National Wildlife Refuge. They are breeding Tule Elk there to restore their numbers. The elk are in a pen roughly 1.5 miles by 3.5 miles. This bull was with a group of four that were near the South end of the enclosure.

Well, we kind of cheated. The elk are in a huge pen (3.5 x 1.5 miles) so you have a pretty good chance of seeing them.
