I don't know the answer but you might also want to ask on this thread too, they do a lot of long ND exposures:

Might as well ask this here too, but you gents with 5DS models - are you seeing hot pixels on long exposures?

I've been reading on upgrading (10 years is a long time without buying any new gear) to the 5DSR, but since I do primarily long exposures the reports of hot pixels has me concerned. 30-60 seconds is my bread and butter, but I do 200-300 seconds quite often as well.

Any thoughts?

responded over in the LE thread :-)

I just received this lens from CPS on loan. I do a fair amount of architectural commercial work, but I like this lens for effect too. This is my first try at tilt shift for miniature. I shot this before I shot the HS game for the paper.

For me, this doesn't quite work.

In terms of the composition, your dad and the OOF person at the end of the table, and their conversation, are the main subject. The back of your brother's head isn't a real point of interest.

It does show very clearly what the tilt feature can do ... and in a setting where most people would not expect to see this particular lens being used.

Interesting perspective. My dad is the one with his back to me, not the OOF person at the end, and my brother is the in focus person at the end. I understand the conversation at the end of the bar may be the main subject to most, but I wanted to capture these two people. If this was an event in which I was hired, I would have definitely wanted the conversation in focus as opposed to this.

Thank you for the feedback.

Scott

Hey ... that's quite amusing ... I knew I was taking a risk on fingering the in-focus person at the far end to be the older of the two ... but I thought I'd guessed right. I did, at least, understand that the in-focus figures were your father and brother. Too bad, that I switched them ... more fool me!

You were there at the time, the people in it mean something to you, and inevitably that means you see the image differently from me.

It's a great use of wide-angle tilt capability ... and not in a typical situation.

David.
