I don’t want to sound like a Fuji fanboy here as I’m not but this is not my experience at all. The Fuji AWB nails it pretty much every single time for me whereas my Sony always needs tweaked in post. I wonder if it’s because you were using a first generation Fuji and not the newer models?

He was using an xt-1 so it's possible...but we also shot in a lot of mixed light, and used speed lights and off camera lights (he has a godox trigger so he was firing my lights). It's pretty much expected that AWB would miss it's mark from time to time...and stylistically, sometimes I drift away from whites being pure 4500k. Not a big deal though....white balance corrections are pretty simple. Color casts and things like really hot yellows when your subject is in the shade and the sun is hitting things in the background are more difficult, and still need to be dealt with regardless of what camera is being used.

I'm not bashing Fuji, but I also don't see anything special about the Fuji colors that are so highly regarded. Much like my comments about Canon colors when I had a Canon second shooter, when it comes to raws, I don't really find one to brand to be better than the other. The baselines are different, but in terms of colors, I can get very close to the same end result in post.

One thing I will say is that the Fuji 56 1.2 is really nice lens. Really sharp and great rendering

I have no experience with Fuji and OCF so that could also be a factor to what i am seeing. AWB is one of my pet peeves with the a7rii, I just think it rarely nails skin tones and I’m always fighting it

Yeah any kind of artificial light, including hot shoe mounted speedlights, complicate things when it comes to white balance. But even natural light stuff had its fair share of white balance issues on the Fuji files. Color casts and what-not still throw things off. Fuji files from the ceremony were all natural light, but the awb still wasn't consistent shot to shot as the lighting changes as you change positions. It's not anything unexpected though. Correcting white balance is simply part of post processing, particularly things like weddings where you rarely have full control of the lighting.

How fun is it to only have a camera and a lens? awesome, right? Great shot.

it is certainly more conducive to working and catching fleeting moments that are more genuine...the causal moments from the shoots I have been doing lately have been more fun, better and liked better by the people I am working with...I really want to find the right client to let me do some lifestyle work with...less staged, more documentary...I think it would be fun.

from this past spring, a good spot for the 24 TSE to get the full height of this feature...first time I had seen it with enough water to warrant shooting it.

for lifestyle yah it's rewarding to capture real moments but I can also stage it and make it look natural. I simply ask them to act like actors and/or actresses and on the spot i'll imagine a scene of a movie. asking them to act and pretend i'm not there.

natural light also make you concentrate more on shooting without worrying lights.

Was this all from the same day? If so, you had a feast of eye candy during that sunrise.

Same spot, but not same day. First time was a scout, second time, I came during low tide ;-)a

unfortunately, neither had dramatic skies, however there is potential, and lots of fun shooting in that area.

My shooting partner in the background. The shooting location is amazing, and only requires a 5 minute walk from car. Best place for sunrises, and it's been empty every time I've been there, no one is crazy enough to go that early. Walk to the left a little bit, and it gets urban really fast!

EDIT: btw, the 12-24 has issues shooting straight into sun, and while not really bad in the top photo, it does have a little bit of flare.
