It's lit really well but the back of her hand does not look feminine.

I don't know about that. I think the skin tone looks a little uneven across the back of her hand and between the back of her hand and her fingers. That could just be her natural skin coloration, it might be something to do with the light, or it could be due to post-processing.

But I don't think it's unfeminine.

From a recent session. Just some very light post on her hair to make it pop more. Everything else was untouched.

This is one that is actually cropped from a full-length body shot. One of the many advantages of the new Canon 5DM IV! I obviously did not use my favorite portrait lens (Canon 70-200 f/2.8), but in a pinch I think this worked.

You've cropped down to about 30% of the pixels in the original shot. It's impressive what this body can deliver.

But ... and I am not an IQ junkie ... the image is a little 'soft'. Maybe you could usually get away with that. But this style of portrait--isolating the subject against a pure white background--demands to be really sharp, I think, if it's going to work.

I think the latest sensors can take this amount of crop ... but only if the original image is tack sharp.

Thanks! The photo is not meant as a headshot - I was just fooling around with it. Plus, if they do want headshots out of this series, they would only be using them for their website and business cards, so this would be more than sufficient. Besides, I do have sharper photos - I just really liked this one ;-)a. The headshots results from my 70-200 are far better.

All the best, Jim

Well, it would certainly look razor sharp on a business card. And it captures a great expression from the subject.

I'm getting a bit OCD about sharp images just now ... mostly because it's something I'm seriously focusing on improving in my own stuff.

Don't let it bother you. (Not that you did :-))
