The camera has merit.
I'm liking the feather detail.
The lens is sharp at 600mm and with a true F4 at 600 it is totally unique.
In fact a couple of times shooting I look at the value the camera is coming up with at F4 and 600mm
and am quite happily surprised at the ISO the camera comes up with....the bonus of such a huge wide
lens and a smaller sensor.

Tried out shooting hand held this afternoon at 600 mm in close.
Love the macaws at Alligator Farm.

If you guys get a chance, I would love to see how the camera tracks and some low light shoots.

Thanks,

Theron

The parrots posed very nicely today for me. No flight shots available. Need to test the continuous AF.

P.S. Shot these mistakenly at very slow SS and HH. Got lucky. What a camera.

Theron, I live in low light hell. How high an ISO do you want?
So far I've seen 6400 can be worked but I will probably cap mine at ISO 3200.
Really very very similar to the RX100v for how much I can push and pull.

I was thinking not a low light camera at all but if I was doing surveillance type work I'd love it
for size/weight/portability/reach.

Poof and I shoot a lot of mFT as well and there is one big similarity between the 1 inch sensor and the mFT sensor and
that is cropability or the lack thereof. With say the Sony a7Rii we can crop until the cows come home but with mFT and/or
this 1 incher really best to get it framed/composed in camera. The long reach and super sharp lens really help here no doubt
but even with an effective 600mm filling the frame with little birds is a challenging.

Charlie glad you are enjoying.
So looks like image stabilization is working a charm too.
So much tech in this 10iv!

One thing I want to do is a 4K image harvest, the full readout and no binning should product good results.

The image stabilization is excellent. I hand held 1/15sec shot and it was sharp as a knife. Considering the size and overall weight I didn't think it was possible. :)

I'll shoot something in the morning at ISO 6400, won't be pretty. I've decided to cap at 3200.
Charlie will have to do the AF-tracking at the Farm, nothing here but little song birds and they're hard to
af-track with the a9 :(

Showed this to one of my co-workers and he said 'from a 1 inch sensor ?'
I replied 'a Sony 1 inch sensor'

(c) Blue & Yellow Macaw from yesterday.

He let me get real close. at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. My Canon EF 500 mm lens has a MFD of 16-18'. The RX10 IV can focus to 2.4. This is huge advantage.
