The a7riii looks incredible for sure. Adding a joystick, top-notch AF, dual slots and touchscreen takes care of most of the complaints against its predecessor.

Are you guys as surprised as me to see this rolled out today? I'm not sure why I'm ever surprised at Sony's speed to market with their bodies anymore, but this completely takes the wind out of the sails of the D850 release. And given that the release comes days after Sony said they will continue to make A-mount bodies and lenses, that statement feels like a pre-apology for the release of the a7riii.

Same thing happened with the a7rII and 5dsr, a6500 and eos m5, 1dxii and a9, and now the d850 and a7rIII.

Sony's releases tend to be timed to take the wind out of their competitors sails and I think it's intentional. It's like they keep stuff under wraps until canikon announce something, then they bring their product to market to steal the buzz.

I've been reading YouTube comments about Canon shooters excited to switch over to the a7RIII. Sony was smart to release this body right after the Nikon d850.

I'm also interested in the new pixel shift feature of the a7RIII. I think it would be so useful as an architectural photographer to gain the highest resolution image possible.

I'm still irked that we don't have a native 135. That's the last lens I need to finish up my kit.

DxO OpticsPro has changed to DxO PhotoLab but here is the kicker. It already includes Nik's U point technology. I think I'll pick up the software and try it out.

http://www.imaging-resource.com …ces-new-photolab-software (external link)

What will all these new features cost? Through November 30th, DxO PhotoLab ESSENTIAL will cost $99 and DxO PhotoLab ELITE will cost $149. Starting December 1st, the software will go up to $129 and $199 respectively. For anyone who has DxO OpticsPro, you can access special upgrade prices by signing into your customer account at DxO.com. If you purchased OpticsPro on or after September 1st, you can get PhotoLab for free. DxO PhotoLab is available for PC and Mac and can be purchased here.

Well that's three cameras now by Sony with no apps. I judge them gone and soon enough no support.
But in the meantime we shoot with what we've got :)

I think this announcement was originally scheduled for next year but the better than expected reception along with the long wait list for the D850 fast tracked this. Consipiracy theory of me thinks the a7iii was originally scheduled to be announced last month according to all the rumor sites but at the 11th hour Sony made the decision to push the rIII up and push back the a7iii.
