Thanks!
Yea... Yosemite is quite hard to beat, it is quite a place... I am so fortunate to have been able to visit, now 4 times if I am not mistaking, all for FREE due to work related travel to the bay area over the last 5 years :)

Any time I have a trip scheduled remotely close to there I always attempt to make it out, 4 hour drive in the middle of the night there and back is WELL worth it :)

I was back in New York this week for work, finally made it out with my camera and took a stroll to the Brooklyn bridge. Can't wait to get these edited when I'm back. The ICE nd filter did great once again I think.

However, I discovered a major flaw with the filter that I'm not very pleased with.... apparently these filters are not meant to be out in the back pocket and the sat on top of rocks. lol. It did not fair too well, and left with me a back pocket filled with shards or dark glass. I was running, literally, from spot to spot to get the sunset picture before it set, and in the midst of it all the running around i forgot the filter was in my back pocket and sat down for a quick "break" lol

I'll be ordering a new ome today, it has served me well and has been worth every penny :)

Well, finally got home from the work trip and took a little bit last night to run through the pictures. I know there is a lot of redundancy here with the subject, only had 2 days to shoot and the sunset was so awesome both days that I didn't bother going anywhere else, just a different angle here and there.
Once again, the ICE filter did not disappoint. Enjoy.

no picture to post ATM...more of a PSA...if you order any new Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND filters, they don't come with the foam gaskets anymore, you have to order those too...I guess since their new holder doesn't need them, they don't provide them with your $150 filter...

That’s bonkers. It even annoyed me that I had to stick the gasket on myself on their 16 stop but not getting one at all is taking the biscuit

imagine my irritation when my box of 3 new filters showed up...and I now have to go spend another $6 plus shipping for the gaskets...it is kinda nutz...include them, if the user doesn't need them, fine, but there are plenty of people using their original holder or another holder that need those gaskets...their new holder that does not need them is too fussy, too many parts and moving pieces...which is why I didn't buy it, its hard enough to manage a basic holder with no moving parts, perched on the edge of a rock on the shoreline!

Huh. The only filter I have that came with a gasket is my Lee 15 stop. I personally find it annoying, but then again, my filter holder doesn't require them.

My Lee 6 stop and 10 stop both have them, the resin 3 stop did not. My Lee Foundation kit needs the gaskets...gonna test them out today during my workshop, and see if its an issue...it all depends on angle of the sun, if it can work its way in on the sides...I also like the gasket for a little pad between the plates.

I'm "attempting" to switch over to Breakthrough. When they are finally off back order I'm going to do a comparison between them and Lee. I'm particular interested to see what difference there is in flare characteristics if any. Supposedly the color cast is far better, so it is worth it for that alone considering the buy-back program they have running. The switch won't cost me much.

Sucks about the filter but great shots! Been meaning to take a trip back down that way, you got a great sky.
