Sold my RII. It’s gonna be hard to box it and ship. Sold it for 18hundred.

it was hovering around 2K before R3 announcement, so not too painful

No SR is going to be painful as hell, have a few trips planned and I would love the R3 to be my main camera, but SR is too useful and value it over all improvemnts.... that would leave the R3 as my main event/snapshot camera, which restricts it's usage considerably. I hate dealing with the workarounds of the A7r classic, and the upgrade to the R3 leaves me with this feeling, even though it's an incredible camera otherwise. SR is a significant part of my shooting these days, not going to carry around a honking big set of filters for the 12-24

Thought about how much I love the apps this weekend working a waterfall
with Smooth Reflections. I just can't do it. I'll hand the R2 to Poof when the time comes
but not now.

Today my first EVER Cooper's Hawk and haha Poof was in the shower while I was out back in the
bird studio.
I'm just over the top-these aren't big and easy to see like the Red-tails. With the RX10iv-

Congrats on this neat shot of a Cooper's Hawk. I've only taken a photo of one once, a long time ago (9/9/2012).

Oh, the dark bands at the upper right and lower left are the louvers of my patio awning I was shooting through.

personally what i like only is a timelapse apps which is solved by the movie's 1fps mode.

The SR result is good and the fact that we can shoot smooth water any time of the day without a filter is awesome. I just don't like how it wears out the mechanical shutter and for how long we have to wait.

Found a local buyer for my a9. Still not sure about the a9 vs a7rIII deal though....

from my understanding, a new shutter would cost 3-400, and the camera has a shutter rating of 500K.

by the time I hit the 200K mark, my camera would be extremely well used, so the shutter aspect is fairly low on the totem pole. As for the time to wait, it's just relative to how long you want to expose for. You can always shut it off early if you dont want to wait out the entire duration, something you cant do with bulb shots. Bulb 5 minute = 5 minute, I cant change that. SR 5 minute can be cut off at 2 minute if light or environment changes too fast.

of course you can wing bulb shots to stop early or later, but that's a bit of a guessing game. On the flip side, I will be keeping the A7rii around, I'm quite content with the camera for all shooting scenarios. More of an issue of making the R3 as a secondary camera is what irks me. Once my shooting buddy shoots his R3 side by side with my R2, I'm not sure how long I can resist , eye AF with TAP might be irresistible as I LOVE the cv 35 despite its huge flaws.

For you computer experts here, I'm considering updating my desktop computer and am wondering if a gaming computer might be the way to go. I want an 'off the shelf' desktop rather than me trying to build one. Been there, done that. I would think a gaming computer would have the processing speed to cope with editing photos and video.

I'm considering this Dell Alienware Aurora R6 Intel Core i7 4.2GHz 16GB RAM 2TB + 256GB Gaming Desktop computer. It's going for $1724 on sale.

Thoughts? suggested different computers?

I always get gaming pc's. My other hobby after photography is pc gaming. I find the specs of gaming pc's to work very well for photo editing.
The only thing I would do, is add more ram, go to 32gb. I'm still on 16gb on both my pc's, but would love to get more grunt for photos.

I hope he comes back for more photo ops too MM. The top of the tree at my neighbors can't be seen anymore due to growth since then...and I haven't seen another Cooper's either that I'm aware of.

another thing with gaming pc's is they have a good graphics card. I thought I read that some part of Lightroom uses the RAM from the GPU as well.

I bought this gamer pc from Adoroma because LR was dragging and I couldn't edit 4K footage. Works great!

you need a minimum of the GTX 1050 for HEVC 4K playback!!! it's made for 4K, still looking to score one to upgrade my systems.

for bulb mode and using ND filter I'm using an app called LE calculator so guessing game is solve there but without the ND filter like shooting bulb at night. yah it's a guessing game. after a few experience though, you will kinda know how many seconds or minutes you need for a given situation.
