Buy a used 400/5.6 prime.

Probably a bit too long for a cropped body and being "prime" doesn't offer much in the way of flexibility. I was in Africa many years ago and actually was surprised just how close you can get to much of the wildlife. I would suggest renting the 70-200 along with a 1.4 TC.
