Canon lens sale at Adorama

Just got this in an email, not sure how long it lasts, but some really attractive prices:

Edit: looks like the code is tied to specific zip codes, but if you've ever shopped at Adorama before check your email and see if they sent you anything.

Most of the prices on the linked page are better than regular retail, but right around refurbished prices. Kind of begs the question.... Just for giggles, I put two lenses in my cart. No sale price, just regular retail. No place for a coupon code, either.

If you click through to see 'other' deals, they all seemed like regular retail prices to me. I don't get it.

You have to start the checkout process to get to where you can enter the code. I tried it for the 24-70mm 2.8 II and it worked just fine. Not sure what the price of refurbs has to do with anything, these are new lenses.

It looks like the coupon is tied to a specific combination of zip code + email. Unfortunately the coupon you shared doesn't work for my email + zip code. What a shame, would have loved to purchase the 24-70mm 2.8 ll

That's unfortunate if you're right. I'm going to assume anyone on their mailing list should have gotten something similar though, I've never been a huge shopper at Adorama or anything, mostly due to the tax since I'm in NY.

I received the email and have a different code that I'm not going to use. If someone wants it they can PM me and I'll send it to them and they can see if it works.

Not sure what new lenses has to do with anything. If the goal is price, I'd take a refurb any day. Same warranty, and has been individually inspected by Canon. I've bought lots of refurbs direct from Canon, and never had a problem. I wouldn't pay $2 more just to get 'new'.

Nothing against refurbs, I just bought a refurb 24-70mm 2.8 II last week during the 15% off sale. That still doesn't make refurb pricing relevant to the question of whether or not these prices are a good deal relative to other new lenses...

the ad does seem to offer accident and spill protection as well, so it's a little above and beyond normal. A full retail item should fetch slightly higher resale as well, refurbs have a clear marking on the lens mount.

My bad. I thought the original post was about really attractive prices. If price is the issue, some of these are better deals than refurbs. Some not.

I believe that is from Canon. They have offered such before.

I assumed that most (normal) people were capable of understanding that that meant attractive relative to the price of new lenses at other retailers. Seriously, is English your second language? If you honestly feel compelled to argue that it isn't a really attractive price when one retailer is offering a lens on sale for $200 cheaper than you can find at any other retailer then I feel sorry for you, life in general must be really difficult for you. I'm done here though, I refuse to be dragged any further into what has to be the dumbest argument I've ever been involved in.

You realise that link is personalized, and shows your email addy at the bottom?

Thanks Helen, I had figured out it was personalized once other people mentioned they couldn't use that code but I left it up so people could see the ad and check their own email if they were so inclined. I actually checked the url to see if my email was included there but hadn't noticed it at the bottom of the linked page though.
