6am may be a bit early for me since I'm 90 minutes away from Griffith.

Too bad this wasn't going down 2 weeks ago, when I just got back from France and was still waking up at 3am...

I'm close to an hour away, but no traffic and the late sunrise, makes this the best condition year round. Clouds happened to be amazing days in a row, so there's that too.

Yeah. I did notice the clouds all week. Knowing my luck, tomorrow will be clear skies and no clouds...
Where exactly are you planning on being at 6am? I MIGHT give it a shot...

Going to spam the thread with CV 65mm snaps - hope this won't offend; just wanting to share the rendering of the lens in various situations. On a personal note, I liked the lens a lot more after this outing.

I'm going to park at the observatory, then do a 15-20 minute hike to the spot. You only have a few shots from that location, but they're very nice. Of course you can stay longer and just shoot the observatory all day as well.

Even a clear sky, I'de gladly accept, simply for the morning light, the last time I was there, it was cloudy and dreary...... ;-)a

FE100-400 arrived. Can’t wait to take it out tomorrow morning!

Good chance I’ll sell the FE 70-200/4 as that is now redundant.

It's a full moon tonight...if it isn't too cloudy. ;-)a

David, I never tire of your shots of that area. I love that you have so much brick and a river to work with.

The most detailed reviewer Gordon Laing on the R3.

Looks like a great set and great performance to me, but you know how much I know (little) about truly judging a lens.
I did notice the girl with arms raised kinda posing for you, behind the bikes and kayaks.

Vinz I really like Gordon and the guy he works with on their podcast. Haven't had a chance to watch this one but I bet it is wetting your appetite.
I did look at how many beans are in the cabinet and I could pull this one off, I just don't have the zeal for it and don't know why. I think I've been riding
this gear GAS train a long time and am finally at my destination. If I was a pro like you I'd need to stay on top of all of it but for fun and frivolity what do I really need :)

OK the most exciting and dangerous shot of the trip. this is where we got too too close and learned a lesson about how fast these
creatures could run. But look at the extraction, harvest from a 4k vid via the a9 (that's why no EXIF), and you'd think they were completely
into kicking each others arse....and they were until they noticed us then ran at us.
I should have been clicking shots maybe instead of video--in fact it was the first time I'd ever pushed the video button on the a9 :)

Like you If I don't shoot wedding, the RII is good enough including portrait work. It's just the events like weddings made me thought I really need to upgrade.

Yah I really like Gordon Laing ever since.
